Did We Become Less Human In 2020?

Since nobody seems to read my blog, I figured this would be safe to post here.  I just posted on my Facebook about Philippians 4:6-7 about not worrying, and casting your cares on God. So understand, this isn't really a worry, but a concern. Have we become less human in 2020?  I see things on Facebook and other social media platforms along the lines of  "I'm so upset.  I was in line and somebody was less than 6 feet away from  me.  I felt so violated."  "I can't believe it, I was at the store, and somebody brushed up against me when trying to past me." "Someone was trying to show me something, and touched my shoulder to direct my attention.  They should have been 6 feet away."  Etc., Etc., Etc.  Many of these comments sparked tons of comments with more examples, but one stood out to me: "Yeah, I think the 6 foot rule should continue forever.  I really like it." What?   We are human.  We were MADE to have connections....

Dealing With Rona

I want to start of by saying that this blog is my OWN experience and in absolutely no way reflects what others may experience with Rona and what I did to deal with it is no way is a suggestion on what anyone else should do.  Do note that everything I did was under the advice of my doctor as well as my assigned nurse practitioner.  I also want to encourage each and every one of you not to live in fear.  Don't get me wrong, Covid is very real and can be dangerous.  It can do horrible things to you.  But don't let the fear of Covid overtake your willingness to live your life.  We have become afraid to make contact with other humans.  We cringe when someone gets too close. We have stopped trusting each other and even God.  This is bad. We have allowed political leaders to take over our lives, hide the truth, and distort data for their own benefit. God will prevail in this.  Good can and will prevail from this, but it won't happen by being fearful...

The Rite Of Writing The Right Music

Ok, so I'll admit, the title is a goofy attempt at getting a laugh in hopes that you might read this.   Sometimes I wonder why I do what I do when it comes to music.  This is not an attempt to get pity, or what-have-you.  Just an attempt to write out what's on my mind...to work it out, so to speak.   I have loved music since before I can really actually remember.  There was always music playing in our house.  My dad had a Conn home theater organ that I started climbing up on and plunking out melodies as early as 4 years old.  I started playing the piano and organ at my church when I was probably around 14, I think.  Every chance I could get, I'd find a piano and start playing it.  My mom got me a small synthesizer for my graduation present.  It wasn't the biggest or the best, but it was really cool.  And I seriously used that thing to it's limits.  It was a little Casio with 49 mini keys.  I even joined a band ca...

Finish What You Started

Today, I came across a meme about writing, that I think can also apply to music.  It said: I wonder how many incredible book series are out there that I'll never get to read because the author gave up on their dream.  I bet my favorite book in the world was never even published.  Don't let that be your story.  Finish what you started.  Anyway, it made me think of music.  You can say that the same thing can be said of musicians.   Time to be brutally honest.  I've almost given up lots of times because sometimes it seems I get even get people outside of close friends and family to even listen to my music. There are exceptions of course.  I have had several successful Kickstarter campaigns, usually funded by the same people, however, this time, I had almost 5 times the support than any previous one.  That blew me away.  Big time.  In fact, several people that I don't even know funded this.  So that was pretty amazing....

Do all roads lead to God? Yes.

A good friend of mine posted an article by Oprah about how she believes there is more than one way to God.  Let me start off by saying in big, bold letters.... I AGREE 100% Wait....what?   We will all stand before God one day.  So, yes.  No matter what road we are on, we will get to God.  But the road doesn't end there.  Romans 14:10, 12 says that "Each of us will stand personally before the judgement seat of God, each of us will give a personal account to God."  This awaits us all.  Every. Single. One. Of. Us.  We will all have to account for our lives to Him.   2 Corinthians also says that we will appear before the judgement seat of Christ so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things we did, whether good or bad. Matthew 7:21 says that not every one that says to Him, "Lord, Lord" shall enter the kingdom of Heaven, but only the ones that do the will of His Father which is in Heaven.   So...what d...

Does God Have A Sense Of Humor?

I know what you are thinking.  Of course, He has a sense of humor...He made you, Gregg and that's funny!  Yeah.  There's that.  Usually people refer to the platypus as God's sense of humor, but anyway...moving on. The Bible does say we are made in God's image, and for the most part, people enjoy a good laugh.  I, for one, love dad jokes. Admit it! You do too.  But let's look at some example of God's humor throughout scripture. Just as a disclaimer, not all of these examples may seem funny to us "hardened Westerners" who are used to today's often raunchy comedy, as well as,  some of this gets lost in translation, but all of the below examples were considered humorous at the times they were written.  Genesis has several stories that contain humor (though the platypus isn't actually mentioned in Genesis, this is where He created all things). I mean...when Abraham and Sarah received the  message that they were going to have a baby, they both laug...
